So tomorrow marks the start of my Easter holiday – a three week break that promises to be packed full of Spanish revision and to brighten the mood, a two day break in Firenze!
I booked it up about a month ago as a rather over-the-top mother’s day present for my Mum (althought admittedly, mostly for me!) We’re going on the 11th – 13th April so hopefully it will be warm and sunny and lovely 🙂
Obviously I have been researching all the tasty Tuscan food on offer in Florence and I’ve come up with a list of my must eats for the trip:
no. 1 Pappardelle al Cinghiale (wild boar)
no. 2Â Florentine pizza (ummm…the egg looks sooo good)
no. 3Â Cioccolata Calda (I don’t care that it’ll probably be ridiculously warm – I NEED my hot cioccolata fiorentina!)
no. 4Â Gelato – ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with some wild boar chucked in for good measure…yum.
no. 5Â Antipasto, sitting out side after a long day of sight-seeing and a plate of antipasto – heaven
Okay then, admittedly by the end of that list I was reeling of pretty generic Italian dishes rather than cuisine local to Florence…but who can NOT be addicted to that deliciously smooth, creamy and heart wrenchingly tasty dairy product that is gelato??
I’m now off to watch The Comfort Of Strangers – a film based on the novella by Ian McEwen. It’s set in Venice and despite the lovely murder at the end, it should get me right in the mood for my Italian holiday!
Ciao for now…
