Pasta, pasta, pasta, risotto, pasta

As you can tell, in the past week I have eaten a lot of pasta, among other things of course. Yesterday, for example it was pasta with vongole (clams) and it was absolutely bloody delicious. The day before that it was pasta, olive oil, garlic and sun blushed italian tomatoes. On the first day I was welcomed with creamy buffalo ricotta stirred through pasta – simple, but oh so gorgeous.

In fact, I wait in anticipation for every breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Merlini household, knowing that whatever will be brought to the table will be fresh, exciting and purely Italian. I’m even doing breakfast the mediterranean way and eating chocolate croissants and biscotti dunked into warm milk instead of cereal or toast. A week ago my waistline would have grown simply at the thought of eating a plate full of biscuits first thing in the morning, however now I’m embracing the bulge; so much so that I don’t think that any amount of extra pounds could be enough to wrench the biscotto from the grip of my tanned, Italian hands.

Yes, as you can see, I am becoming Italian. With every new word I learn (zanzarra is my new one for today, it means mosquito and is therefore the topic of the moment) and with every slice of prosciutto I devour, the blood is changing direction in my veins to follow the Italian path.
