¡Viva España!

Deary me, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated. Too long, especially considering all that has happened: I’ve visited my twin at university, I’ve struggled to pack a suitcase for a three month trip, I’ve mastered the art of the chicken roast dinner, however most importantly, I’ve come to Spain.

I’ve once again ‘flown the nest’ and begun an adventure, primarily involving paella, the naughty step and  Barbies, but an adventure all the same. With my newly renovated en-suite and spacious penthouse overlooking the Madrid skyline, my ‘adventure’ might be slightly more comfortable than my best friend’s current escapades in Senegal, Africa (check out her blog here if you so wish: www.hithereafrica.wordpress.com), however to me it feels like the adventure of a lifetime.

For example, the simple task of hopping on a bus to pick up the children from school can turn into a booby-trap -infested-mission-impossible, especially when you’re ditsy like me. However, despite missing the stop for the school by about a mile and then  becoming hopelessy and pathetically lost, I survived (well, the kids might not have if it hadn’t been for a previous babysitter, who came to the rescue and picked them up from school herself.)

Today however, I succeeded. I  got off the bus at the right place and was even EARLY picking up the girls. Afterwards, we went to the park, I gave them a shower, I cooked their tea and I even managed to get them to eat it (although admittedly, we were sitting at that table for one and a half hours). Now they’re in bed and I’m sitting in my luxoriously decorated bedroom, whilst the parents are cooking their dinner. Yes, it is 11pm and that’s right, they still haven’t eaten. How they have not straved to death by now, I really do not know. Well anyway, they might be living ‘la vida loca’ but I’m English and used to bedtimes at 10pm, so I will say toodlepip and I’ll write soon…I promise.
