Just one more photo from beautiful New Orleans – Portland tomorrow!
Six thirty brings the most painful trek to the bus stop since my last DoE expedition through North Norfolk (bronze award, obviously). It seems that bulk buying books and Mardi Gras beads was not the brightest idea. Still, we make it to Dallas by midday. Four hours later and we’re in a grey, cool Portland. Tram, bus, lumbering walk to accommodation: it’s the usual drill. Except, the woman who answers the door to the Air B&B looks bewildered and it soon become clear that we’re not booked in for tonight. In fact, we’re a week early. Another trek across Portland. Increasing bitterness towards said books, beads as well as a new pair of boots.
The HI hostel has a handful of beds left. Unimaginable relief. The threat of homelessness eradicated, we venture into NW Portland. No amount of adjectives can describe this city better than the following video.
Yes, we have reached the home of the hipster.
This is crazy Alice! I had the worst time finding a hostel in Portland!! I literally spent my first day there looking for one… Least fun ever :l maybe it’s some type of conspiracy… 🙂 you look like you’re having an amazing time!!! 😀 xx
